Over the years, we have been blessed with some truly remarkable horses who gave so much of themselves to our program and the children we serve. Each one had a unique personality, a special story, and an extraordinary ability to bring joy, confidence, comfort, and friendship to those around them. Although they are no longer with us, their hoofprints remain forever on our hearts. We remember them with deep gratitude for the lives they touched and for the precious time we were fortunate enough to share with them.
Cannon’s journey was one of rescue, resilience, and love. After being abandoned in the Everglades, he was given a second chance and went on to become a police horse, compete in third-level dressage, and serve as a trusted lesson horse. But his greatest gift was the gentle friendship and happiness he shared with the children in our program. Cannon loved being groomed, greeting visitors, and enjoying a well-earned apple. We are deeply thankful that this remarkable, kindhearted horse came into our lives. He will always be remembered for the joy he gave so freely and the many hearts he touched.

Darby, affectionately known as Benjamin Buttons in the show ring, joined our program in 2014 and quickly became a trusted and devoted partner. He always seemed to understand that his most important job was caring for his riders, whether he was representing the program at Special Olympics or moving gracefully through the dressage ring. Around the barn, Darby’s playful personality kept everyone smiling, especially when he tossed things away from his stall to make sure he wasn’t overlooked. We are deeply thankful for the many years of joy, confidence, and companionship he gave us. Darby will always be remembered for his gentle devotion, his unforgettable character, and, of course, his love of Honeycrisp apples.
